2016 Season
Dear Cross Country Families-
It is with feelings that are both sad and excited that I send you this message...
After what feels like forever... but is actually only 9 years...I will not have a child running Cross Country this year :(.
Elizabeth has decided to swim for her last two years of high school. She has battled shin splints every XC season and spent so little time actually running that the decision was pretty easy for her to make.
I want to start by saying thank you to all of you! One of the reasons that I spent the time reaching out to parents is because Cross Country parents are so great! It is clear why this is such a great sport. Families run together, parents support all kids, and the kids are taught the values that we want them to learn from being in a sport. We are so lucky!
At this time, there are no plans to continue with this blog...which is okay! There are other ways for families to get the information that has been posted here in the past...mostly through you! You are an experienced Cross Country parent now...so go out and help the new parents! Make contact, teach them what they need, where to go, how it works...
Brett's first concern when I told him that I would no longer be helping him was Subway sandwiches for the meets. If you are willing to take on this task, please let Brett know! Based on his response, I believe he will be so glad to have this support. If you are willing and would like any guidance from me, please let me know! I'm happy to tell you what I have done in the past to set this up for the kids.
In addition, the Mayo Invitational will need lots of help! If you are willing to head up one of the volunteer areas-first aid, course marshals, concessions, t-shirts, set up/clean up, hostess, finish line, volunteers-please email Brett and let him know.
That's all from me! I know that some of you have kids in girls' swimming as well so I will look forward to still seeing you there...have a great cross country season!
