2014-2015 Communication

Hope that your summer has gone well!  August is just around the corner...and the start of the season!
Hopefully you have already registered online-I do know that Robin is getting more strict with registration deadlines, so don't delay!  Go to www.mayospartans.org to get that done.

As the start of the season approaches, the communication from me will begin to increase...but be aware that this year's communication will change...this is super-important!

I will not be sending out emails anymore.  This is the LAST email!
If you want to continue to get parent communication from me regarding Mayo XC activities, you will need to sign up for the online newsletter at this link:  http://mayorunning.blogspot.com

Please refer any new XC families to this spot as well!

Sign up by entering your email on the left side and you will continue to receive information for this season!

Volunteers Needed for Healthy Human Race Weekend--August 22-24th!!

The Healthy Human Race Weekend will be here before we know it – August 22-24.  WE STILL NEED TO FILL OVER 350 VOLUNTEERS SHIFTS!!! and we hope you can help us out during this great event.  You can sign up to volunteer on-line at:  www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4CACA62AA31-volunteer.  It’s easy to sign up via this website, where you will see descriptions of the various needs, time frames, etc.

**** No specific knowledge is required to work these events. You will be provided with onsite or pre-event instructions.
Here is some more information on this weekend

  • Volunteering will give you the HHR Volunteer T-shirt as well as get you into the spaghetti dinner for only $5.00 (regular ticket is $9).
  • The expo will have vendors and exhibitors from many different health related areas to promote healthy activity and provide information to the public. There is no cost to attend.
  • Apolo Ohno, 8 time medalist in short track skating in the  2002, 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics is the featured speaker - free
  • Additionally, other guest speakers include Olympic runner, Jeff Galloway and Katherine Switzer, the person who opened up running for everyone, especially for women and girls. - free
  • Additional information on the expo, Kid’s Run, featured speakers, walk, or 5K and half marathon runs can be found at www.healthyhumanrace.com.

We are in special need of course marshals for the 5k and half marathon and aid station personnel for the half marathon. However anything listed that is attractive to you, we would be grateful for your consideration as a volunteer. If you belong to a service club, church group, high school athletic team, a neighborhood association, etc., this is a great opportunity to do an entire aid station and bond with your fellow colleagues.

Running on Sunday morning? Volunteer on Friday or Saturday. Running or walking on Saturday afternoon? Volunteer on Friday or Sunday morning.

If you could please pass this onto your family/friends/co-workers we would appreciate that.  Please contact me if you have any questions regarding either volunteering or the Healthy Human Race Weekend.

Thank you so much for your consideration.

Spartanfest!

Dear Mayo
Cross Country
-

Message from the Touchdown Club!

Please consider supporting this event by attending or making a donation!

Thanks!

Just a note to anyone interested in helping out the Mayo High School Athletics (including football, soccer, lacrosse, track, band, and dance line). It is the assumption that the new turf at Mayo Field has been donated by a private party or is being paid for by the school district. This is not true. We have a group of volunteers, myself included, that have a line of credit that is paying for all of the turf, the ground prep work, and installation costs including a new scoreboard. We need everyone who is interested in helping us out to forward this information to as many people as possible. We also have a major donation program for advertising on the new scoreboard that is being offered which is extremely affordable for a 15 year deal. If anyone is interested in advertising or purchasing tickets, Please reply to my email or you can call me at 507-951-1962. Ticket info is also on the attachment which can be purchased at Fraser Construction located behind the old Fleet Farm, by Northstar Brick and KBS building supply or purchased at the door. You are also welcome to pick up multiple tickets to sell yourselves if you're interested. Any parents or alumni that can help us sell tickets would much appreciated and WE NEED YOUR HELP. If you cannot make it, cash and other donations for raffle are welcome of course.
Thank You

Summer Running Club Info-Message from Coach Brett

We will be changing things this year and will not be holding a running camp this year.  We will however have set dates that we will plan to meet with runners from the area.  Coaches will attend most of the workouts but there are a few dates mixed in that coaches at this point are not able to attend due to summer plans so we will communicate with the older students as far as what the plan for the day will be similar to what a captains practice or open gym would be like.
June 23rd-July 30
Time:  9:00-10:30 am
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Location - Silver Lake Gazebo by the swimming pool/big playground.

The week of July 4th we will not meet as this is a Minnesota State High School League non-contact period.
Please sign up for communication through remind 101 (https://www.remind101.com/join/mayocc) .  Texts will be sent about changes that may occur due to weather.  If you would prefer to be contacted through email please email Brett Carroll at brcarroll9@gmail.com.

1.  Communication Plan for 2014-2015:
Starting very soon... the distribution list will be retired as a way to communicate.

Please pass this information to any new Cross Country runners that you might talk to this summer!

2.  Have been receiving emails asking about Summer Running.  This is what I know (bear in mind that it may have changed since I learned this!)
Summer Running Club will start mid-June, three days each week at 9:00 am.  Watch the website for whenever more absolute information is posted!  www.mayospartans.org
